Nothing more than a mere ash dump in the late 1800s, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden has grown to become one of the best in urban gardening and horticultural display. Located in Prospect Park near the Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, Flatbush, and Park Slope sections of Brooklyn, the Garden features multiple specialty gardens and plant collections, as well as the Steinhardt Conservatory which currently houses the CV Starr Bonsai Museum. More than a million people visit the Garden each year, with most visitors travelling to Brooklyn in early spring for the Cherry Blossom Festival called Hanabi, and the Sakura Matsuri celebration that concludes the festival season.
