Webster Hall

Webster Hall is a historic nightclub and concert venue located in New York City's Greenwich Village. Built in 1886, the building was recently deemed a New York City landmark that best illustrates the City's fine history and involvement in poltics and pop culture. Webster Hall has been the stepping grounds for many notable American figures from all professions and backgrounds. The venue was at one time a gathering place for various political groups and labor unions. In the early 1900s, Webster Hall had ties to mobster Al Capone and was the home to many underground Prohibition soirees and balls, with Marcel Duchamp, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Man Ray, and many other notables as its regular guests. Webster Hall also served as a concert hall for a wide-range of artists, from Latin singers such as Tito Puente and Tito Rodriguez, to prominent acts such as Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, Prince, Metallica, Sting, Aerosmith, U2, KISS, B.B. King, Mick Jagger, Madonna, and Guns N' Roses, to upcoming indie acts such Modest Mouse, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Hives, and John Mayer. The venue continues to offer concerts, but is now also used as a club and venue for special events. Recently, Webster Hall formed a partnership with AOL's New York Broadband Rock Series to serve as its main live music venue, and works with Bowery Ballroom to bring more up and coming artists to the stage. The building also hosted a special event for Former U.S. President Bill Clinton and was filmed in the Iron Chef "New York Special" between Chefs Bobby Flay and Masaharu Morimoto.
